“The Eastern Himalayas, poured into a glass — Switzerland took notice.”

Two Days of Craft, Community & Cherrapunji

Over two vibrant days, our team welcomed hundreds of curious visitors to the Zarf Spirits stand, guiding them through the story behind Cherrapunji — a gin inspired by the botanicals and traditions of India’s Northeast, the region that gives the world some of its most unique flora and indigenous ingredients. The response was immediate, warm, and enthusiastic.

The booth itself became a talking point at the festival. Our striking honeycomb-shaped display shelf showcased the full Cherrapunji range — both the Eastern Craft Gin and the Berry Gin — drawing visitors in from across the hall. People lingered, asked questions, took samples, and many left with a bottle — or two — tucked into a Zarf Spirits jute bag.

Event Highlights
  • Swiss debut of Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin & Cherrapunji Berry Gin
  • Both gins presented, tasted, and enthusiastically received by visitors
  • Distinctive honeycomb display drew consistent foot traffic
  • Branded jute tote bags snapped up by happy visitors
  • Strong interest from both consumers and trade visitors

Moments from the Festival Floor

More Than a Sales Opportunity

For Zarf Spirits, this festival represented more than a chance to move product. It was the beginning of a conversation with Swiss consumers about craft, sustainability, and the world of spirits beyond the familiar. The questions we were asked, the enthusiasm we encountered, and the connections we made confirm what we have always believed: there is a real appetite in Switzerland for exceptional spirits with a genuine story to tell.

Swiss and European spirits enthusiasts are increasingly seeking out products with rich, transparent sourcing narratives. Cherrapunji Gin — distilled from wild-foraged botanicals from the sub-Himalayan hills of Northeast India and brought to Switzerland exclusively by Zarf Spirits — is precisely that kind of product. The Luzern festival made that abundantly clear.

The Spirits We Poured

Two expressions of Cherrapunji Gin were featured at the festival, each one drawing its own crowd and telling a different chapter of the same extraordinary Himalayan story:

Eastern Craft Gin

Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin

Crafted from six wild-foraged and small-scale farmed botanicals sourced from the sub-Himalayan hills of Northeast India — Khasi Mandarin, Kazi Nemu, Sohmarit pepper berry, Pine Smoked Tea, Smoked Cardamom, and Alpine Juniper. Distilled with pristine Meghalaya spring water, it delivers a floral, layered complexity that is unmistakably eastern. A revelation for Swiss gin lovers discovering the terroir of Cherrapunji for the first time.

Berry Gin

Cherrapunji Berry Gin

A vibrant, fruit-forward expression that celebrates the wild berries and lush landscape of the world's wettest place. Rich, aromatic, and beautifully balanced between freshness and depth — the Cherrapunji Berry Gin proved to be a standout favourite at the festival, winning over visitors who might not have considered themselves gin enthusiasts before tasting it.
